QR codes on digital signage.

Type a link, add a label, and the screen shows a crisp, scannable QR code: no image editor, no QR generator website.

Turn a screen people look at into a link they can open

A screen can tell people about your loyalty programme, your reviews page or your online menu, but it can't hand them a leaflet. A QR code bridges that gap: people point their phone camera at the screen and land on the page.

CastWize has a QR code widget. You type the link (or any text) and an optional label such as "Scan for the menu", and the player draws the code itself at whatever size you place it. Because it's generated on the device rather than uploaded as a picture, it stays sharp on any screen, and changing the link is a quick edit rather than a new design.

Put the QR code in the corner of a slide next to the offer it relates to, or give it its own zone so it's always on screen while the other slides rotate.

What businesses link to

Restaurants and cafés

The online menu, ordering page, Google review page or loyalty sign-up.

Shops and showrooms

A product page, a booking form or a promotion's terms.

Clinics, hotels and offices

Check-in forms, guest information, feedback surveys or a staff intranet page.

How to add a QR code to a screen

  1. 1

    Open a slide

In Studio, open a playlist and add or open a slide.

  2. 2

    Add a QR code widget

Add a Widget object and choose Qrcode.

  3. 3

    Enter the link and label

In the widget's settings, enter the link and an optional label, for example { "data": "https://example.com/menu", "label": "Scan for the menu" }.

  4. 4

    Size it for scanning distance

Make the code large enough for the distance people stand from the screen; a quarter of the screen height is a good start for a TV a few metres away.

  5. 5

Publish and test with your phone

Publish to your screens, then scan the code on the real screen from where people will stand.

Ideas that work well

Review requests
A slide after the bill or at the exit: "Enjoyed it? Scan to leave a review".
Menus and ordering
A permanent QR zone on a menu board linking to the full online menu.
Sign-ups
Newsletter, loyalty or class booking pages, scheduled to show at quiet times.
Countdown + QR
Pair a countdown widget with a QR code for an event's ticket page.

Requirements and limits

  • The code is a standard black-and-white QR code; there are no colour or logo options.
  • Any text can be encoded, but short links scan more reliably than long ones.
  • The code is generated on the player, so it keeps showing through internet drops.
  • Settings are entered as a short line of configuration text in the widget for now.
  • CastWize doesn't count scans; use a link with tracking parameters if you want to measure them in your analytics.
