YouTube digital signage.
Paste a YouTube link, put it full screen or in one zone, and it plays on a muted loop on every screen you choose.
Play a YouTube video on a TV without a remote
Putting a YouTube video on a shop or waiting-room TV usually means a smart-TV app, a remote and someone pressing play every morning, and it stops the moment autoplay jumps to something else. Digital signage fixes that: the screen plays exactly the video you chose, on a loop, at the times you schedule.
CastWize has a YouTube widget. Paste the video's link (a youtube.com address, a youtu.be share link or a Shorts link all work), place the widget on a slide, full screen or next to other content, and add the slide to a playlist. The video starts on its own, loops, and shows no player controls.
There is a Vimeo widget too, which plays a Vimeo video as a muted background loop in the same way.
Who uses YouTube on their screens
Brands with a YouTube channel
Loop your own product videos and ads in the shop window without downloading and re-uploading them.
Gyms and studios
Workout demos or a channel's ambient video on screens across the floor.
Waiting rooms and lobbies
A calm nature loop or an explainer video in one zone, with information in another.
How to show a YouTube video on a TV with CastWize
- 1
Copy the video link
On YouTube, use Share → Copy link, or copy the address from the browser. Any youtube.com or youtu.be link works.
- 2
Add a YouTube widget to a slide
In Studio, open a playlist, add a slide, add a Widget object and choose YouTube. Paste the link into the "YouTube video link" field.
- 3
Size and place it
Drag the widget to fill the slide, or keep it in part of the slide beside text, a QR code or a clock.
- 4
Set the slide's duration
Choose how long the slide stays on screen. The video loops for as long as the slide is showing.
- 5
Publish and schedule
Publish to the screens on the playlist, and add day and time rules if the video should only run at certain hours.
How the YouTube widget behaves
- Autoplays and loops
- No one has to press play; the video restarts by itself when it ends.
- Muted, no controls
- The video plays silently and without YouTube's player controls, which suits most public screens.
- Works in any zone
- Combine it with your own slides using a split-screen layout.
- Every player
- Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi all play the YouTube widget.
Requirements and limits
- The video's owner must allow embedding. Most public videos do; some music videos and private videos don't.
- YouTube videos stream from YouTube, so they need a live internet connection and aren't cached for offline playback.
- YouTube decides what appears around the video, including any ads the owner has enabled. For guaranteed ad-free playback, upload your own video file to the Media Library instead.
- Videos play muted; there's no sound on CastWize players for now.
- One widget plays one video. To rotate several videos, add one slide per video to the playlist.
If the video is yours, uploading the MP4 to CastWize is the most reliable option: it's downloaded to the player, keeps playing through internet drops, and is kept in step on video walls.
