Google Drive files on every screen.
Connect Drive once, pick images and videos in Google's own file picker, and play them on your TVs. The files stay in Drive.
Keep your screen content where it already lives
Most teams already keep their photos and promo videos in Google Drive. Downloading them to upload somewhere else, then doing it again every time the designer sends a new version, is busywork.
With CastWize you connect Google Drive once and pick files in Google's own picker, several at a time. They appear in your Media Library with a Drive badge and go into playlists like any other image or video.
Picked files are linked, not copied: the file stays in your Drive, and your screens fetch it from there. Upload a new version of the file in Drive and the screens show it at their next sync, usually within a minute.
Who shows Drive files on their screens
Marketing teams
The designer drops the new promo into the shared Drive folder; every store's screen updates without anyone opening the signage tool.
Agencies
Keep each client's artwork in their own Drive folders and pick from them, without re-uploading files you already manage there.
Small businesses
Photos from your phone sync to Drive; pick them and they're on the shop TV.
How to show Google Drive files on a TV
- 1
Connect Google Drive
In Studio, open the Media Library, choose Import from Drive and sign in with Google once. CastWize asks only for access to the files you pick.
- 2
Pick your files
Google's file picker opens on your Drive and on files shared with you. Select up to 50 images or videos at a time.
- 3
Add them to a playlist
The files show up in the Media Library marked as linked from Google Drive. Add them to slides and playlists like any upload.
- 4
Update them in Drive
To change what's on screen, upload a new version of the same file in Drive (Manage versions). Screens pick up the new version at their next sync.
What you can show from Drive
- Images
- PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and SVG, full screen or in one zone of a split-screen layout.
- Videos
- MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV. Videos play muted on a loop, like other video on CastWize.
- Plays offline
- Each screen keeps a downloaded copy, so a Drive file keeps playing if the internet drops for a while.
Requirements and limits
- Pick files through Google's picker. CastWize can only open files you picked, nothing else in your Drive.
- Google Docs, Sheets and Slides files aren't media files. Show them with the Google Docs, Sheets and Slides widgets instead.
- PDFs can't be shown as a file. Export the pages as images and pick those.
- Edits reach the screens when the same Drive file gets a new version. A new file with a new name needs to be picked again.
- If you disconnect Drive, or remove CastWize's access in your Google account, linked files stop updating on the screens.
Your Drive content is used only to show it on your screens. See our privacy policy for how Google data is handled.
