Display a website on a TV.

Paste a URL, size it to the whole screen or one zone, and schedule it like any other slide.

Any public web page, on any screen

A lot of what businesses want on a screen already exists as a web page: a live status page, a public dashboard, a booking calendar, a news page, the company's own website. Instead of taking screenshots and uploading them every day, CastWize can show the page itself.

In CastWize, a web page is an object on the slide canvas. Paste the URL and it fills the slide, or resize it to sit in part of the slide next to an image, a clock or a QR code. Put that slide in a playlist, schedule it, and every screen on the playlist loads the page.

Many sites refuse to be shown inside another page (the X-Frame-Options and frame-ancestors settings). CastWize loads the page through its own server, which drops those settings, so many pages that would show blank in a normal embed display normally on the screen.

Who shows web pages on their screens

Offices

A public status page, a published dashboard, or the company news page in the lobby.

Schools and campuses

The public events calendar or the school website's announcements page on corridor screens.

Shops and hospitality

Your own website's offers page or a public booking page between promotional slides.

How to show a web page on a TV with CastWize

  1. 1

Open a playlist and add a slide

In CastWize Studio, open (or create) a playlist and add a slide.

  2. 2

Add a Webpage object and paste the URL

Choose Webpage, paste the full address (starting with https://), and drag the object to fill the slide or one part of it.

  3. 3

Set how long it stays on screen

Give the slide a duration. In a playlist with several slides, the page is loaded fresh each time its slide comes round.

  4. 4

    Preview, then publish

Preview the slide in Studio, then publish. Screens on that playlist pick it up within seconds.

  5. 5

    Schedule it if you like

Add a day and time rule, so the dashboard shows only in office hours or the events page only on weekdays.

Good to know

Full screen or in a zone
Use a zone layout to put the web page on one side and your own slides on the other.
Pages that block embedding
Handled for most sites: the page is fetched through CastWize's server without the headers that block framing.
Load problems are reported
If a page fails to load or doesn't finish within 15 seconds, the player reports a playback error.
Reloads with the playlist
The page reloads each time its slide comes round. In a one-slide playlist it is not reloaded on a timer, so pages that update themselves work best.

Requirements and limits

  • The page must be public. Pages behind a login aren't shown logged in, because the page is fetched without your cookies or password.
  • Addresses on your private network (intranet IPs, localhost) are blocked; the page has to be reachable from the internet.
  • A page whose own scripts break out of frames may still not display. Check it in the Studio preview first.
  • There are no scroll, zoom or refresh-interval settings: the screen shows the top of the page as the browser lays it out.
  • Web pages need a live internet connection; they aren't cached for offline playback like images and video.

For Google Slides, Sheets, Docs, Calendar or Maps, use the dedicated widgets instead of a plain web page: they use Google's own published embeds.
